Core Values:

Hearing from God:

Open Heart, as God’s people, will seek God for direction and wisdom.  The Bible providing the core standard for truth, and guidance; Prayer providing the connection and vehicle of understanding, and Devotion to God providing the motivation for all we do.

The extreme value of each person:

Jesus, as God’s son, died for everyone, even those who have rejected Him.  We seek to demonstrate this value to all we have contact with and affirm the true source of value:  Jesus’ death on behalf of each of us.  While valuing each person as they are, we accept the challenge and call to bringing them into a deeper, more personal relationship with God from a Biblical perspective.

A Questioning environment: 

A questioning heart is an “Open Heart”.  Honest questions are to be encouraged as we look to “seek God with all our hearts”.  The hard times and questions cause us to grow in “real” ways.  Being “real” is more important than being “religious” as we sometimes struggle in our relationship with God.

Faith is a process:

While many evangelical churches see “salvation” as a goal, Open Heart looks to challenge people to understand and pursue a relationship with God, salvation being the door to transformation and spiritual growth rather than an end in itself.
